Four places we keep going back to, four colours, one line. The snow line beanie is a close, fine-rib beanie in pure cashmere, light enough to forget you are wearing it and warm enough for a morning on a frozen lake. The deep cuff folds once, so the single knitted line sits just above the ear.

The snow line

Every Maison Jollise piece carries exactly one line. In winter it is the snow line, the height on a mountain where the forest stops and the white begins. It is the only mark on the outside: no logo on the front, nothing loud. The people who know will recognise it across a street.

How it arrives

Folded by hand in Romania into a bone gift box printed with our name, the name of your place and its coordinates. Inside the lid, the contour lines of that place, with one gold dot where it sits. Under the ivory tissue: a postcard from the place, a linen sachet of Swiss stone-pine shavings so the box smells of the mountains when you open it, a cedar ring against moths, our navy wax seal, and a card with one line left empty: first worn by ______, in the year of ______. It is made to be opened slowly, and kept.

Questions before you buy

Will it fit me? One size with a gentle stretch, made for heads from 54 to 60 cm. Fold the cuff once for a closer fit, or unfold it for a slouchier one.

Will it itch? Cashmere fibres are much finer than ordinary wool, so most people who find wool scratchy wear it happily. If it is not for you, you have 30 days to send it back.

Which colour should I choose? Ivory is the brightest and the most striking with a dark coat; camel is the warmest with navy, brown and grey; navy and charcoal are the quietest and go with everything. Or choose by place: the one you love, or the one you still mean to go back to.

Can I send it as a gift? Yes. Ship it straight to them: the box is the gift wrap, and the card inside has a line waiting for their name.

When will it arrive? It is a pre-order, made in a small run: production starts when the batch closes and takes 4–6 weeks; the estimated shipping window is shown above. It ships tracked from our studio in Romania. We write to you the day it leaves.

Cashmere grows softer with every winter you wear it. Hand wash in cool water with a wool shampoo, press the water out inside a towel, never wring, and dry flat away from the radiator. Store it folded, with the cedar ring. A little pilling in the first weeks is natural on pure cashmere; a cashmere comb lifts it in a minute.
